Join us for the mandatory in-person practical assessment for your Fall Protection Certification. This hands-on session focuses on the critical, real-world skills required to safely use a Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS). Participants will learn how to properly inspect their gear, achieve a safe and secure harness fit, and perform mandatory buddy checks before working at heights.
What to Expect: Under the guidance of a certified instructor, participants will complete a comprehensive practical evaluation covering:
- Pre-Use Component Inspections: Systematically inspecting harnesses and lanyards for damage (e.g., cuts, frays, burns, chemical exposure, or compromised stitching). Verifying the integrity of hardware (D-rings, buckles, snap hooks) and checking equipment tags for manufacturing dates and inspection logs.
- Proper Donning & Fitting: Step-by-step guidance on putting on a full-body harness. Adjusting leg, chest, and shoulder straps to ensure a snug, secure fit (the "flat hand" test) while ensuring the dorsal D-ring rests properly between the shoulder blades.
- Connecting Devices & Anchor Points: Identifying proper connection points, safely operating double-locking snap hooks, and understanding the physical requirements of a secure anchor point.
- Post-Use Maintenance: Best practices for cleaning, hanging, and storing fall protection equipment to prevent degradation and damage.
